This 1940s Rose lead chess set has lots of age related wear and the red king is missing its crown. The Rose chess set was patented in 1941 by Mildred Rose, a London based entrepreneur. The red and black lead pieces were based on the staunton design but were distinctive for being flat with base supports for stability.
