Antique c1890 History of America folding chessboard and backgammon board

A wood board covered in leather and designed to look like a two volume book folio entitled History of America Vol 1 and Vol 2. The board measures 17.5" long x 15" when closed and is 3" deep.

The backgammon board is leather with the points in red and black and edged in gold leaf. The board is in pretty good condition for its age. The chess board is also in brown and black leather and edged in gold leaf. The spine is red and black marble effect. The hinges are intact but there is a little bit of cracking to the leather and there are small pieces missing in places. All of this should be expected for its age.
