Antique History of England folding chess board with miniature pieces
Antique History of England folding chess board with miniature pieces
Designed to look like an impressive two volume folio of the History of England, this is actually a folding wooden chess board on the outside and a backgammon set on the inside. Dating back to the early to mid 19th century, when it is closed it measures 45cm x 24.5cm and is 8cm thick. The wood is slightly cracked and the marbled effect binding is incomplete in places. Nevertheless, this is a really lovely piece.
It comes with a set of antique miniature wooden staunton style chess pieces. Despite their small size, the pieces have plenty of detail and are in good condition for their age with only a couple of small chips to a couple of the pieces.
