Large 1950s Persian hand carved wooden chess set

This is an unusual set of wooden chess pieces. The King is 5.2" tall and the pawns are 2.4" tall.
The pieces are quite lightweight and the pale, golden coloured pieces have either lost of the varnish or were perhaps never fully varnished in the first place. Unusually for pieces of this size they each seem to be carved in one solid piece.

This is a really lovely old set which comes in an old wooden box. It has some slight chips and markings as you would expect with something of this age.
