Very rare - c 1970s Porcelain "Frogs" chess set, Ernst Bohne & Sohne, Rudolstadt
Beautiful porcelain chess set (32 pieces) depicting tree frogs vs grass frogs. Each porcelain pieces is glazed, coloured and hand decorated with gold paint. Underneath is the distinctive crown over the N stamp.
The pieces are all in perfect condition and are presented in their original box with fabric inlay.
The Ernst Bohne company was founded in Rudolstadt in 1848. From 1937 onwards, the business was taken over by Albert Stahl. Albert Stahl is no longer trading and therefore sets such as this one have become increasingly rare.
